Observater is Uganda’s premier independent Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agency. Headquartered in Kampala with operations in Entebbe and Jinja, we deploy expert surveyors nationwide to verify suppliers and inspect goods before shipment.
Sourcing from Uganda offers incredible opportunities in Agricultural Commodities (Coffee, Vanilla, Cocoa, Fish), Agro-Processing, and Manufacturing. However, sourcing remotely from the Pearl of Africa poses significant risks: logistics delays, quality fade, quantity shortages, and verification of suppliers.
Observater Uganda eliminates these risks. We are locally rooted with a nationwide network. Our Uganda Quality Control Inspections are strictly governed by ISO 2859-1 (AQL) standards. Whether you are importing Coffee from Mbale, Vanilla from Kasese, Fish from Entebbe, or Textiles from Jinja, our certified inspectors ensure your goods meet every specification before the container is sealed.
We verify Business Registration (URSB), Tax Clearance (URA), and Export Permits with relevant ministries.
Assessment of factories in Kampala Industrial Park, Jinja, and Namanve to confirm production output and machinery.
Inspections to UNBS (Uganda National Bureau of Standards) requirements and ISO standards before export.
Social audits ensuring compliance with Ugandan Employment Act and international human rights standards.
A complete lifecycle of quality assurance, from initial supplier vetting in Kampala to final sealing at the logistics hub.
We visit the factory to verify legal existence (URSB), production lines, and machinery to ensure they can meet your capacity.
Full Audit Details →Identify risks before mass production starts. We inspect raw materials (raw coffee beans, cotton lint, vanilla beans) against your specifications.
Inspection when 20-50% of goods are ready. We catch defects on the assembly line, allowing for immediate corrective action.
The industry standard. Final Random Inspection (FRI) of 100% produced goods to verify quality, quantity, and packing before shipment.
Methodology →We witness the stuffing of the container at Kampala ICDs, factories, or consolidation points to ensure security and proper sealing.
We draw samples and submit them to ISO 17025 accredited labs (e.g., UNBS Labs, Chemiphar) for chemical and physical testing.
The Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is the critical quality firewall. It is the final opportunity to catch defects before your goods leave Uganda. Observater’s PSI services are conducted strictly according to the international standard ISO 2859-1 (ANSI/ASQ Z1.4), determining the statistically valid sample size based on your total order volume.
Our 7-Point Inspection Protocol:
Sourcing from a distance requires trust, but trust must be verified. Our Factory Audit services provide a transparent, detailed profile of your supplier. We travel to the facility—whether in Kampala, Jinja, or rural agricultural zones—to confirm they are who they claim to be.
Audit Scope:
We utilize the Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) standard to determine the number of samples inspected and the threshold for acceptance or rejection. This ensures a statistically accurate representation of the total shipment quality without opening every single box.
Defect Classification System:
Uganda is a major exporter of Coffee (Robusta/Arabica) and high-value crops like Vanilla and Cocoa. We provide specialized inspection services for these commodities, ensuring grading meets UCDA and international standards. We also verify Scrap Metal and Minerals for export.
Beyond the factory floor, the final hurdle is export readiness. Our FPSI focuses on the logistics conformity of the consignment before it is handed over to the forwarder. We ensure your documentation matches the physical cargo to prevent customs delays at Kampala ICDs, Malaba/Busia Border, and Across Uganda.
The most critical moment for cargo safety. We oversee the transfer of goods from the warehouse floor into the container at Kampala ICDs, Malaba Border, or the exporter’s facility. We prevent bad stowage, theft, and damage.
We reject unfit containers before loading begins. Our 7-point inspection checks for holes, odors, wet floors, and defective locking gear.
Maximizing space while ensuring safety. We supervise stacking patterns to prevent crushing and verify lashing/dunnage to stop movement.
The final chain of custody. We witness the door closing and apply high-security bolt seals. We record seal numbers immediately.
Our structure ensures we cover the entire supply chain lifecycle, from raw material sourcing in the interior to final export via land or air.
Kampala is our headquarters and command center. From here, we coordinate Factory Audits and logistics. We have rapid access to major industrial areas like Namanve, Nakawa, and the inland ports.
We operate at the source. Our surveyors in Jinja cover the Industrial & Textile sector. Teams in Mbale handle Coffee logistics. Entebbe is our base for Fish and Perishable Air Cargo inspections.
We don’t just inspect; we connect the dots. Our integrated approach ensures that quality is maintained from the moment raw materials enter the warehouse until the container seal is locked.
Verifying inputs at farms or factories in the interior.
Monitoring processing (e.g., coffee hulling) and sorting.
AQL statistical checks on finished, packed goods.
Final supervision and sealing at Kampala/Entebbe.
Specialized grading for Coffee (Mbale/Kasese) and Vanilla curing.
Verification of Nile Perch and other fish exports via Entebbe.
Verifying building materials for local infrastructure projects.
Inspecting manufactured goods, including textiles, plastics, and beverages.
